Ny videnskabelig assistent - Jacob Thorsager Mogensen
Hi everyone,
My name is Jacob, and I started as a research assistant on Svend-Erik Skaaning, Lasse Leipziger, and David Andersen’s Dynamics of Regime Change project on March 1, 2026. You may have seen me around before, as I have been a student worker on the DRC project for the past two years while finishing my master’s degree. I will be affiliated with the Comparative Politics section.
At the DRC-project, we are building a dataset that covers all modern cases of transitions to and from democracy between 1789 and 2023, with a focus on how the democratic transitions or breakdowns unfolded. For each case, we code detailed characteristics of the process, such as leading actors, violence, and mass mobilization. My main task on the project will be to conduct this coding and eventually help put together the final dataset. This fits well with my academic interests, as during my studies I developed a particular interest in the consequences of regime change, with a special focus on democratic breakdown.
Outside of work, I enjoy working out, fishing, and spending my weekends visiting Danish football stadiums to watch my local team, Viborg FF, play.
Feel free to stop by my office (1332-124) for a chat or a short break during the day. I look forward to seeing you around!
