Hi everyone,

my name is Sofia and since October 1st I have joined the Department of Political Science at AU as a postdoc. I am from Italy but I moved to Austria in 2020, to pursue my doctoral programme at the University of Vienna.

I have a general background in political science and European studies, and during my PhD I focused especially on political parties, their organisation, and their transformations. My doctoral dissertation analysed causes, consequences, and perceptions of party policy shifts, in a comparative perspective.

In Aarhus, I am joining the YOUTHPOL Project, headed by Henrik Bech Seeberg, where I will study how party youth wings organise and interact with their parent party. We will study mainly Western Europe, combining interviews, surveys, experiments, and secondary data from party programmes and statutes. Among our goals, we aim to understand if and how youth party branches express public preferences and to what extent parties listen to them. I will be part of the Comparative Politics section at the Department.

In my free time I enjoy spending time outside, especially hiking, but I also like reading and doing crosswords. You can find me in room 1340-234 if you want to have a chat or a cup of coffee/tea. Looking forward to meeting you!
