Ny ph.d.-studerende: Harald Brønd

Hello everyone,

My name is Harald Brønd, and this September, I'm starting as a PhD student in the comparative politics section here at the department.

My project is entitled "Pathways to the political elite", and I will, among other things, study careers of political advisors, with a focus on the revolving door and lobbying. I aim to map the post- and pre-office careers of ministerial advisors and test the effect of the position on the post-office careers of ministerial advisors, comparing the group to other policy professionals, both within the Danish case and across national contexts.

That sure sounds like a lot of things to do, so I'm happy to have Anne Binderkrantz and Peter Bjerre Mortensen with me as my supervisors. Before joining the department here in Aarhus, I did my Bachelor's and post-grad at the department of political science in Copenhagen where I also worked as a teaching assistant in sociology and comparative politics. Additionally, I also hold a Master's degree in Inequalities and Social Science from the London School of Economics.

I'm new to the department, although I worked remotely with Anne this spring from my desk here in Copenhagen. Luckily, I'm relocating to Frederiksbjerg in Aarhus this fall, so I can spend a lot of my time at my new desk in building 1332 - 118 (please drop by and say hi if you want to). When I'm not at the desk, I love to hike and to learn new cooking techniques in my kitchen. Furthermore, I spend my time playing music (piano and everything with strings) and restoring vintage mountain bikes for me to cruise around the city with.
