Ny ph.d.-studerende: Lucas Couto
Hello everyone!
My name is Lucas, and I am part of the most recent cohort of PhD students who started at the department on September 1st. I am brand new to Denmark and previously did my BSc and MSc in Political Science at the University of Brasília in Brazil, which happens to be located in my hometown.
In my PhD project, I aim to investigate how citizens react to and are influenced by multiparty governments. While the academic literature has started to address this topic mostly in parliamentary democracies, we know very little about the relationship between multiparty governments in presidential democracies and citizen attitudes, so part of my efforts will be toward filling this gap. In this endeavour, I will proudly receive the guidance of Mathias Tromborg as my main supervisor and Christoffer Green-Pedersen as my co-supervisor. All this leads me to be in the political behaviour and institutions section.
In my free time, I basically watch sports, especially football and tennis, and TV more broadly, including TV news and series. By the way, I'd love it if you could tell me a little more about the Danish football teams. Which team should I root for? Aarhus GF? Or are there strong reasons to support another team? Not relatedly, but I also have a deep interest in Data Visualisation, which certainly does not mean my graphs are pretty, but I like to think of myself as an enthusiast.
Please feel free to stop by my office (1332-223) and talk about coalition governments, political behaviour, dataviz, Brazil or whatever comes to mind. I am pretty talkative, so I am sure we can find a common ground of interest!
Warm regards,
Lucas"
