Hi everyone

My name is Rune, and I have just started my PhD project at the department, specifically at the King Frederik Center for Public Leadership where I have been employed as a research assistant for the past 1,5 years.

My project will focus on management and leadership in volunteer-based public organizations such as the Danish Home Guard (Hjemmeværnet) or volunteer fire departments. These organizations deliver extremely critical public services, but without monetary incentives or economic dependency – a somewhat unique setup.

I am broadly interested in how leaders within these organizations see themselves, what practices they use and how such practices relate to outcomes such as volunteer retention or hours spent volunteering. My supervisors are Morten Brænder and Morten Jakobsen.

My spare time is spent with my wife and our six-month-old daughter. I also spend quite some time refereeing handball at the elite league level, so if you ever have a rules question or just need someone to shout profanities at, I’m your guy. If you feel like shouting, or chatting about public/volunteer management and leadership, do drop by my office (1340-350).
