Ny ph.d.-studerende - Paul Bederke

Hello there!

My name is Paul, and I started as a PhD student here at the department on September 1st. I just arrived in Aarhus, but I’m already enjoying the city and the surrounding area.

My project will focus on the intersection of gendered impacts of climate-related disasters and women’s political participation at the local level in the sub-Saharan region. Previously, I worked in the ‘Female Leadership and Effects from African Droughts’ project led by Aksel Sundström at Gothenburg University, which significantly shaped my interest for this field of research.

In the past, I have also worked extensively on the ‘Party Facts’ linkage key database, and recently, together with colleagues at GESIS in Cologne, I developed a new database called ‘PolPaL’ (Political Party Links).

Besides work, I spend some of my time on the bike, hopping from café to café, and catching some sunlight. In Aarhus, I’d also like to try my hand at a few creative projects to get a change of scenery from everyday office life.
