Valbjørn to rethink Islamism
Associate Professor of Political Science Morten Valbjørn has received a DKK 770,000 grant from The Carlsberg Foundation. This gives him the opportunity to focus fully on his new book about Islamism. Has Islamism changed to such a degree that we need to rethink it? Morten Valbjørn asks.
Associate Professor of Political Science Morten Valbjørn at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University will explore whether, why and how the different Islamist scenes in a new Middle East have been significantly transformed after the Arab uprisings, and to examine to what extent this requires a fundamental rethinking of the scholarly approaches to Islamism.
He has just received a Carlsberg Foundation Monograph Fellowship of DKK 772.228, which makes it possible for him to focus fully on his new book project “Rethinking Islamisms: The transformation of Islamist scenes in a new Middle East”.
