New PhD Student: Christian Jonasen Noer

Hi everyone!
My name is Christian, and I just started as a PhD student at the department. I will be joining the section for public administration.
In my project, I will focus on bureaucratic discretion among street level bureaucrats. Specifically, I plan to study the role of individual differences between street level bureaucrats in bureaucratic decisions, and the implications of these (potential) differences on public service delivery. To answer these questions, I will use administrative data and quasi-experimental designs. I have a special interest in social policy from an internship at the Social- and Employment Agency in Aarhus Kommune, but I aim at expanding my focus to other areas of public service delivery. During my project, I will be under supervision of Simon Calmar Andersen and Kim Mannemar Sønderskov.
When I am off work, I enjoy spending time with friends, and with my eight-months-old daughter and wife. Occasionally – when the sun is shining, and the roads are free of salt – I can be found riding my bike around the Aarhus-area. I also enjoy traveling to mountainous areas to go for a hike.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you! You are more than welcome to drop by my office in 1340-130 to say hello and have a chat on street level bureaucracy, an interesting research design, or where I should go on my next hike.
