New PhD Student - Astrid Jæger Jensen
My name is Astrid, and I will be joining the Department of Political Science from February 1st. You may already have seen me around, as I have participated in the Public Administration section meetings during the fall of 2025 and also attended PhD courses at the department.
I am one year into my PhD and have been enrolled in the cross-disciplinary PhD programme, Social Sciences and Business, until now. I was previously affiliated with the Department of Economics, but with the closure of the cross-disciplinary programme, I took the opportunity to move my departmental affiliation to Political Science, which matches my educational background from Political Science at Aarhus University.
During my PhD, I will investigate the effectiveness and consequences of initiatives aimed at disadvantaged children. I am particularly interested in how civil society and the welfare state interact, and more broadly in what shapes child well-being and inequalities across family backgrounds. My supervisors are Simon Calmar Andersen and Anna Piil Damm (Department of Economics).
I am looking forward to discussing research and to chatting about music, crafts, gardening and other everyday matters at the coffee machine. Feel free to drop by my office in 1340-242.
