Hi everyone!

My name is Markus, and I started at the Department of Political Science this summer, where I will be working primarily on analytical tasks across two research projects.

Partly, I will be working on a project implementing passive sensing technologies aiming for a multimodal, context-aware tracking system that can reliably estimate interactions and coexistence between family members as they go about everyday life. The second project looks at how party leaders communicate election outcomes in their election night speeches, examining the frames they use and how these differ across the aisles of the political spectrum.

I have a bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science, and my main strengths are in data analytics and NLP. Before landing here, I worked on a real mix of projects; studying the relationship between political characteristics of Danish parties and their use of blame in the Parliament, as well as investigating how generative AI is changing the workflows of developers with different levels of knowledge depth (i.e. generalists and specialists).

When I'm not at my desk, I'm usually outside. I hike, mountain bike, run, and play the occasional round of golf, but lately most of my free time goes to my newly acquired Polaris Drabant 26 - a small sailboat that made it all the way to the Swedish archipelago and back this summer. Additionally, I spend most of my vacations seeking out the lesser-known corners of the world, so I usually have a tall tale or two on hand.
