In cooperation with Mara Leichtman (Michigan State U/AUFF Fellow at IFSK) and Thomas Brandt Fibiger (Arab-Islamic Studies, AU) - and as part of the “TOI: Bringing in the Other Islamists” IRFD research project (www.ps.au.dk/toi) - Morten Valbjørn will be organizing an international workshop on “Rethinking Interdisciplinary Approaches to Shi‘a Transnationalism and Trans-Regionalism”. The workshop will take place Tuesday 19 November, at 10:00- 16:30 in the “small meeting room” (1330-124).
The aim of the workshop is to examine the nexus among Shi’a transnationalism, trans-regionalism, and interdisciplinarity. Against this background, the workshop will bring together scholars from political science, anthropology, history, and religious studies, who have a shared interest in studying Shi‘a transnationalism, but differ in terms of thematic focus, geographical contexts, time periods, and disciplinary groundings.
Programme:
In the programme, you will find information on the speakers and their presentations. In case some of you are interested in Shi‘a Islam, transnationalism, trans-regionalism or interdisciplinarity, you are most welcome to join us.
No registration needed.
