Collecting data: Procedures and formalities from inception to archival

A one-day workshop covering all steps of the data collection process considering the multitude of formal and informal requirements. The course is open to all employees at Department of Political Science and run by Professor Kim Mannemar Sønderskov. It takes place June 13, 2024 from 8.30 am to 12 pm.

Scientific data collection must meet multiple requirements, and many new ones have been added recently from both national law and EU directives as well as from stricter standards within the political science community. Junior as well as senior researchers must navigate these formal or informal requirements when collecting data.

This course provides a guide to contemporary data collection going through the different considerations at all steps of the data collection process from the pre-collection phase (e.g. registration and agreements over the collection phase, storing/sharing data and reproducibility) to the post-collection phase (storing/sharing/documenting data and archiving data).
