My name is Mathias Tromborg and I am a new assistant professor at the department. I have spent the last seven years in the United States where I received my MA in political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia and my PhD in political science from Rice University. My BA is in history and from Aarhus University.

My research analyzes various linkages between voters and their representatives in Western European and other parliamentary democracies. This work commits to the idea that an understanding of representative behavior requires a model of voter behavior, and vice versa. Within this overarching research agenda I am currently working on a project that examines which (if any) heuristics voters use to hold their policymakers accountable in complex information environments such as coalition government as well as a project that examines whether and how parliamentary parties use their candidates strategically to develop a distribution of policy positions (as opposed to a single clear-cut position) that voters can select from at the ballot box.

I am excited to be part of the department and look forward to meeting everyone within it. Please feel free to stop by for a chat in building 1340, room 127
