My name is Tobias Varneskov. I am a new PhD student at the department, supervised by Carsten Jensen and Henrik Bech Seeberg.

I graduated from AU in 2015 and spent the last 3 ½ years working in consulting. However, I missed the safe heaven behind “the yellow walls” and I am excited to be back.

My plan is to study tax policies of the welfare state. Focusing more on the revenue – rather than the spending - side of the welfare state. I will look at the drivers of variations in tax policies and under what conditions parties reform certain taxes.

I enjoy running and skiing. I have a keen interest in sports, history and gastronomy and I like to study and drink wines (I prefer a glass of Bordeaux Merlot to most other wines).

My office is in building 1341, room 112. Feel free to stop by any time.
