New PhD student at CFA: Emil Bargmann Madsen
Emil Bargmann Madsen is a new PhD student at the Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy.
My name is Emil Bargmann Madsen and I am a new PhD student at the Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy. I completed a master’s degree in Political Science from this department earlier this year, and have subsequently been employed as a research assistant.
The primary aim of my project is to investigate the politics underlying differences and developments in public research funding across and within advanced capitalist economies. More specifically, I explore changes (or stability) in the level of public research funding, developments in how these funds are allocated, and how they are prioritised across different research areas. However, my intention is also to put some explanatory flesh on these descriptive bones by probing the influence of interest groups, especially those representing business, on the dynamics of public research funding. My project is supervised by Kaare Aagaard and Carsten Jensen.
