To complete the PhD study programme in Political Science Matilde Tofte Thorsen presents her PhD dissertation, giving a public lecture followed by a defence
The subject of the lecture is:
“Why should we care about dictators being motivated by ideology or other factors? And to what extent do ideologically motivated dictators behave differently than dictators motivated primarily by self-interest when they face serious challenges to their rule from, for example, the masses, other elites, or external actors?”
