My name is Göran Duus-Otterström and I am a new associate professor in the department. I am here on a part-time contract, and I will divide my time between this department and the department of political science at the University of Gothenburg, where I have a tenured position. I am also a research fellow in the Institute for Futures Studies in Stockholm. In the past, I have held visiting positions at the University of Warwick (postdoc) and the University of St Gallen.

I am a normative political theorist and I work in the contemporary theory of justice. My research revolves around two themes: the justification of legal punishment and climate justice. I am currently working on a project funded by the Swedish Research Council investigating some unsolved theoretical problems for the Polluter Pays Principle, which is a central principle in environmental politics both in theory and in practice. Over the last few years, I have also become increasingly interested in fairness-based justifications of punishment and political obligation, and this is something I will continue to pursue. When I am not working, I enjoy playing video games and basketball.

I am delighted to be in Aarhus and look forward to getting to know the department. I will be sitting in room 119 in building 1332.
