The talk presents state of the art research on leaders and voting, taking into account the most recent developments in the field, in conceptual and methodological terms, and the degree to which we can answer the following question, namely: are we witnessing a personalization of elections?

Marina Costa Lobo is professor at the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon. She ran the research project Personalization of Politics in the 21st Century studying the importance of party leaders for electoral choices which, among other things, resulted in the book Personality Politics? The role of leader evaluations in democratic elections. She is now principal investigator of the ERC project Measuring and Analysing the Politicisation of Europe before and after the Eurozone Crisis.

I hope to see many of you there and also urge you to circulate the invitation to interested students.

Best,
