The department will get a prominent guest 8 June when professor Cathie Jo Martin from Boston University will give a talk entitled "Labour market coordination and the evolution of tax regimes". 

Cathie is known for her work on the role of employers in economic policy-making. Recently, she published a book on Cambridge that explored the origins of different political and capitalist systems around the turn of the 19th century. She has also published in journals such as American Political Science Review, British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, and World Politics.
